And they have started already. Sniping and snide, trying to run her down before she has even begun. Just like they did with Boris.

Oh the howling when we hit the energy crisis and the PM had no mandate to make decisions, let alone policy, before the new PM came in. I laughed, I still haven't stopped laughing since the outrage that Brois was still in #10 after he resigned. Those who ranted and raved to get rid of him, followed by ranting and raving when he didn't "leave" the second they wanted, should have actually looked at our, largely unwritten, constitution.

They started something which paralysed the government and #10 at a time when we needed solid government. Only one step further would have been trying so hard to bring Boris down in the middle of the pandemic.

Now Truss is in the cross hairs. I don't mind, I talked it through with several Tory party members over the last few months. It doesn't matter who is at the helm now, in fact, for the Tories, it really doesn't want to be their very best because the Tories are going out at the next election.

I'm just wondering how much more free entertainment I can get out of it? No matter what they say or what they do, the press and the Tory haters can't trigger a general election before 2024.

Isn't that the biggest laugh ever? Because it was the Lib Dems who were adamant that we needed fixed term parliaments for "stability". Define "stability"? One Tory PM after another, on and on and on again. So long as they have enough majority (20 would do it), they are never going to vote to dissolve parliament and go to a GE before they absolutely have to. Hoping, all along, that Labour will make themselves unelectable in the interim. I mean it's possible isn't it? They have already done it in recent history.

Ignoring all press and media news is becoming such a habit it will be hard to break it.

Oh please stop making out that Truss is a bright new thing never seen before and should be given a chance.

She has been an MP since 2010 and has had various positions in government, none of them shining examples of her abilities. We know plenty about het to make our decisions. She is the dullest of the dull and the lightest of the lightweights.

She is apparently not very well liked in the Westminster party. She only scraped 32% of MP votes in the three way run-off against Sunak and that was due to Braverman and Badenock telling their supporters to vote for her over Mordaunt.

In order to become leader of the Cons and PM she only managed 47% of the blue rinse and monocled brigades' votes. 30,000 of them could not be bothered to vote for one or the other.

We have every right to go after her day after day. 'Suck it up' as some of you once said to some of us.

As for your second and third paragraphs. Remind us who it was who voted him out. The BBC? Labour? LibDems? Laura or Beth? The man and woman in the street? No! It was his own MPs with their vote of no confidence. Now remind us of the things that brought that action on.

As for the GE.... most of us do not want one till 2024 when Truss and the ERG will have damaged the Cons beyond repair. We then hope for a Lab/LibDem/SNP hung parliament and the ushering in of proper PR.

Maybe we can do without the bells and whistles typical of the Boris Johnson style and accept Liz Truss as what you see is what you get. She may come across as a bit dull and flat but if she gets the right team around her she could be galvanised into doing a good job. People are waiting to hear what she has to say about the energy crises, they are not too worried about how dull she is, they want some reassurance that they will be helped with their energy bills. Hopefully she will get it right but she has an enormous job ahead of her. To be honest I don't think the country can cope with another failed Conservative leader so I hope at least she is given a chance.

The bottom line is that she has two years to "solve" the big 4 - cost of living crisis, the energy crisis, illegal immigration, and the aftermath of Brexit.
Anything less and the country will vote the Tories out. And it's not just on Truss's shoulders, it's also on the shoulders of the Chancellor and Home Secretary; Kwateng, who looking at his bio has limited financial experience, and Braverman, who cannot surely be any worse than Patel, respectively.
We have no option but to give them a chance, as Meds has asked, but I have to say, I'm not filled with optimism ....

I have just heard a very funny comment made by Toby Young - he said he is concerned that Liz Truss will turn out to be Boris Johnson in a dress. It made me laugh.

The problem is that this polarisation has become endemic and is highly destructive. It also leads to extreme disappointment when the "good" party turn out to be as big a bunch of wasters as the one's you just got rid of. Even worse they might be a bigger bunch of wasters but it could take a year or two to realise it.

As for a 3 way coalition with the SNP..... Oh yes Go For It. I know the SNP quite well, voted for them for over a decade. They will feel Zero loyalty to anyone who is deemed "english". Meaning they will agree to something in Cabinet then torpedo it in the chamber. Sit and nod whilst the "English" pontificate then rip them to shreds on the voting. Then they will "expect" that every single demand they made be lived up to to the hilt and more.

The price of your PR could be Very high indeed.

She's right wing, the broadcast media is mainly left wing liberal. Over the last few nights the local news has been full of gloom. Pubs and restaurants will close because of the energy crisis - what is the government going to do for them? Charities won't be able to pay their heating bills - what is the government going to do for them?
They deliberately infer that everything is the government's fault; that nothing bad should ever happen to anybody and if it does, it's the fault of the government.

I'm not particularly sold on Liz Truss but give her two minutes before you stick the boot in.
But they won't, because the media have realised that they have the power to bring down a Prime Minister or a President that they don't like; after all they have already done this.

Ignoring all press and media news is becoming such a habit it will be hard to break it.

It's surprising how many people now say that they have stopped watching the TV news.
