Here we go again!

Yet another resignation and leadership battle! What an absolute farce! We need a General Election.

Not before time, but a new PM within the week!

It looks as though the 1922 Committee has changed the rules so that the Tory party members are locked out and only Tory MPs get to vote. In other words the new PM will be "annointed" and at the same time have no mandate - not even the fictional one Truss claimed.

Yes, we do need a GE but it is doubtful we will get one. The polls predict a Tory wipeout and no new leader will go down that route.

Robert Peston mentioned digital voting, but surely they won't go down that road - it's far too open to hacking  :?

I am not sure that a fully working system with members knowing how to use it properly could be set up in time.

According to the media Sunak is odds on favourite to win. It is also suggested that the process might be to filter out some candidates, those with little or no chance, so that only two remain before the vote.

It happened with May and Leadsom, with the latter standing down before the vote. Deja vu?

To be honest they have no credibility left. It doesn't matter who gets elected they are toast over the next 2 years. Nobody can fix this now and it is just a matter of running the clock down.

I can see Truss' point. She set out her agenda, was voted into the role with that agenda, started to implement the agenda and the MP's buried her. Time to walk away and let them get on with ruining the party. I hadn't seen this before I posted on the other thread, I've been travelling for two days and I'm now trying to work, empty the car and get some food. So I'm a bit out of touch.

Must be one heck of a long scarf you've got there now, saundra, with all these comings and goings.

So she's gone? Break out the good biscuits! :Hi: And good ridance.

Braverman and Badenock to stand? Classic death spiral - keep making the same mistakes as infinitum.

The cretinous Tory membership (sorry, Suff, no offence meant to you personally) to have a vote  ? I wouldn't let them anywhere near a hole with a wheelbarrow.

Gove told not to stand? I'd have liked to see Gove as Caretaker Prime Minister and Hunt as Chancellor until the next Election.

Boris to come back? Well, if you must. Can't make a catastrophic situation any worse, I guess ..... :|

That's why they are going down that road, to fix the result.
Johnson is miles ahead of Sunak with the members, but the media is saying that Sunak is the odds on favourite?

Yes, I bet he is.

What an absolute shambles.
I haven't voted Labour since 1997 but we need a general election, if only to condemn the army of weasels, backstabbers, plotters and globalist anti-democracy rats who seem to comprise the majority of the Parliamentary Conservative party to the oblivion that they so richly deserve.

The last six months have shown that they deserve nothing else.

I have heard a few calls from MPs this afternoon for Boris to come back. I am sure there are at least some genuine MPs but once they had won their seats they booted him out, and now they are sure they are going to lose their seats, they want him back. I am only focused on one thing just now - keep the triple lock for pensioners!

Correct. Who would vote for this collection of rats in a sack?
All they are doing now is throwing a Hail Mary.
The common or garden conservative MP is just hoping that somehow, something will change for them in the next two years to lessen the scale of their defeat.
