We had some good news this week, if a bit puzzling.
MrsC has received her pension estimate; she is due to start getting the old age pension next year.

The surprise is, she's getting more than me!
I worked longer and paid more in NI, so how this comes about is a mystery.

Just wondering if it is worth getting an accountant to look into it.

Do you already get yours Crommers? I think they are bringing in a new basic rate, so perhaps yours will also increase?

I think it depends on when you qualified, be it before or after 6 April 2016, and also the date you were born.

Try a search for pension rates for relevant details.

I got mine at age 65, but the ex had to wait till age 66 or 67.

I got mine this year Crommers and although I don't get the full amount, as I retired when I was 47, I still get a hefty lump.

As WM says, it all depends on when you retired.

A friend who reached retirement age a couple of years ago, gets more than Grumpy, who has been getting his for 10 years.

She's better off ringing them, rather than getting an accountant to look into it. I found the pension people very helpful when I rang. Just gave them my NI number, date of birth, names and that was it. He told me how much I would be getting and why.

I have been getting the full state pension since I had my 65th birthday in 1999. It is lower than if I retired at 65 now.
I also get graduated pension which is reduced because I get a company pension. The rules keep changing. I know people who have never worked
or contributed who are getting more pension than me and get other benefits.

But it stops me getting any bennifit help
And still pay full rent and stuff

Cruiser, that's what I can't get over. Some people who've never had a job get more.
