We’ve had a lovely day - got a train at 11.30, so got into town about 12pm. We strolled along towards Grafton Street, and said we would try the restaurant in Brown Thomas (Dublin’s Harrods), figuring we would have to queue as they don’t take bookings but in fact we got a table straight away. I had duck with red cabbage and butternut squash purée. I don’t normally like red cabbage but this was delicious. Edward had fish and chips. When we were leaving, we realised that it had started raining, it wasn’t supposed to arrive until around 5pm
However we carried on to the Powerscourt Townhouse centre which is always beautifully decorated. There, we bumped into Miss Osc and family who were top of the queue for the restaurant there. Off we went again, the rain had eased a little, we went into M&S and Boots, listened to some of the great buskers out on the street, then walked to the station for the train home. All this time, it was drizzling, but when we got home, the heavens opened so we were lucky. We had tea and Christmas Cake and we’ve just watched a lovely movie, This is Christmas, and are waiting for the Royal Carol concert. Christmas has well and truly started!
