Bonkers weather

We were over 50C in the sun today, 25C in the shade.

T-shirt and cut offs for Grumpy, both wearing hats and sun cream.

We now have the fire lit and it's going to be 3C tonight.

But that sun is so, so hot.

I remember being told, by our neighbours in Fuzeta, that the winter sun is stronger than the summer sun

We've topped up the tans, but won't be using the pool just yet

We're the same but nowhere near as cold as you at night.

Our friends came back from Portugal last Thursday completely shocked at how cold it was at night.

It could be March swimming for me.

I'll risk putting my hand in the pool tomorrow, to see that it's probably about 8C

that's a huge temperature difference Jan; wowzer. Wonder how much it would cost to install solar panels just for heating the pool esp if you've got that winter sun?

About 5k. I've looked at it but decided the house was more important if/when I ever get around to it.

Our pool is colder and was frozen over last Monday morning. I'd been cleaning it but ran out of time. I've also been devising a home made floating support for the tarp. New tarp needed though. I have to order it and get it delivered. By Friday so we can put it on next weekend. I'm flying out of East Midlands at 6am...

That does sound absolutely nutty Jan. Such a difference between day and night!

I was just looking at the solar weather and there is some explanation for a bit of this.

We've been at solar minimum for at least a year now with sunspots as low as zero for weeks.

But January kicked off with some impressive solar weather. I removed the rest of the numbers. Solar Ham has the full chart here
