Sending our bright, but rather cold, sunshine to you Weka! Very glad to hear from you, it looked awful on our news this morning, and my immediate thoughts were for you and your family.

Thanks Kaz. It’s so cold here too! I’ve never worn a thick winter jumper all day long in the second week of Feb. it’s insane. This week is normally the hottest, sunniest week of weather the entire year.

I’ll take any sunshine I can get. I’m still pasty white and it’s the middle of summer. (Allegedly) I’ve only use sunscre once this summer, normally it’s 2-3 times a day.

Thanks Ria. Currently rescuing a baby hedgehog. Don’t tell anyone, as it’s a noxious pest here, but it’s oh so cute!!! I don’t think it’s going to make it, but I’ll try and give it a fighting chance.

Glad to hear you are OK Weka. I'd send you bright warm sunshine but when I arrived home on Saturday it was - 3.

When you get your sun and heat back watch out for it. The intensity will be high as the number of sunspots is closing in on 2003 levels.

Stay safe.

Weka, according to the news sites there is a national emergency declared for North Island and the northern parts of South Island - for as long as it takes.

Some of the pictures and videos make it look like the end of times.

Good to hear that your are stilll safe and dry(ish).

The storm rages on to east, but we have sunshine!!!

Time to dry out the garden shed
And start the clean up outside

I really don’t want to have those winds again in a hurry.
