People being turned away at the polls

From what I'm, reading.

In some ways this is a good thing. Local elections are important locally but not critical to the nation. Hopefully the message will get through before the next G/E and there won't be problems.

Well, OK, there will be problems. But at least nobody will be able to say they didn't know.

There has not been any excuse, not one, for people not knowing that they needed photo ID to vote today. The information has endlessly been in all the papers, radio and TV news channels, and don't forget (un)social media, for weeks, even months. What is more, if you registered to vote you will have got a polling card and the rules and acceptable forms of ID were laid out there in black and white. If you did not have one of the acceptable forms there was also information on how to get a "free" Voter Authority Certificate with just a phone call. People who were too stupid or too lazy to apply do not deserve a vote.

However, I suspect that most of those turned away were "activists" trying to make a point about ID in general. Tough.

And let us not forget that if someone who had not registered to vote but had turned up in attempt to do so they would also have been turned away. How many of them were there?

It would be interesting to know for each ward, how many people were registerd to vote, and how many voted.

Also how many Voter Authority Certificates have been issued for each ward.

It would make interesting reading. This has nothing to do with political parties or who won a seat.
