Spent yesterday afternoon trying to clean my Nan and Grandad’s gravestone.
It’s white marble, or was until my Dad cleaned it with neat bleach. Now it’s rough, discoloured and porous.
He’d been obsessing about it being dirty so we said we’d go and do it. I took before and after pics to show my him and my sister and there was very little difference between the two.
First thing he said was that we needed to use bleach, even though he’d been told that bleach was the last thing that should be used
I fully expect him to head up there with his bottle of bleach this coming week.
He’s already talking about taking a shovel to lift Mom’s stone a little higher and putting some wedges underneath to keep it like that, because grass grows over the edges with it being set in the ground. If he does that it’ll be damaged when the grass is strimmed. Tom said he’ll be sectioned if he turns up at the cemetery with a spade
It takes two minutes to trim the grass with a pair of scissors.
