Thanks Ally :D It was a bit nerve wracking, as the vet was taking such a long time that we feared bad news, but he was just being thorough :Hi: :Hi:

Our 4 year old fig bush has gone bananas this year and shot up to around 6 foot in height. There are at least 50 figs on it, and two have actually ripened! :Hi:

Served tonight with creme fraiche and a little sweetener (Truvia), they were delicious. Whether any others will "turn", I don't know, depends what sort of warm Autumn we get, I guess.

Do you have any fig trees round your way, Jan?

We've got a fig tree Ossie and it bears fruit every year like a mad thing.

Only because it knows I absolutely hate figs.

I'm surprised we've had as many this year given the terrible drought we're having but oh no, thanks to Don and his bloomin watering system it has continued to flourish.

He loves them, eats loads and swaps a bag full with a neighbour for eggs and grapefruits.

we've just got rid of it Ossie

The blue jays loved it and would eat the fruit before we could and to be honest, not a huge lover of figs, well, Gladys isn't ;)

I now have a lovely little patch of gravel instead

I'm loveing this cool weather :Hi: :Hi:

The last of next doors guests left yesterday, so that means we'll have dogs barking all day again.

Not one review this year

When I was in Saudi we would take the ripe figs and bung them in a blender with some Italian herbs to be blitzed. The mash then went in a plastic drum with water, baker's yeast and sugar, and left to brew under a home made air lock.

The resultant wine was 'interesting' and ever so strong! :D
