Another bodged job

The local council deceied alter the traffic lights at a road junction and install pedestrian crossings. There are tempoery traffic lights and work has stopped.
It has been like these for more than two weeks.

I have been told that the new lights cannot be connected as the main control box is wrong and a new one has to be made.
So much for AI. Maybe Father Christmas will have a spare one.

No wonder council budgets are in a mess

Not sure if it’s the same by you but a small job on the road will be done and then there’s a wait for the tarmac people to come and finish it off, we’ve noticed that temp lights will be there for days, up to a week on occasions, before it’s finally had the top surface replaced and the lights and cones removed.

“Improvements” have been in progress on the roundabout above junction 10 on the M6 for a few years now and of course it’s meant that work has had to be done on the motorway below.

We’ve avoided the road above but the general consensus is that nothing has improved at all. The work on the M6 itself should’ve been completed in Spring 2022, then when Spring 2022 came around a sign appeared that said it’d be completed in two months and that sign stayed in place for about six months. Now there’s a sign saying that work is taking place but the workers may be working out of sight - honestly there’s nowhere they can be hidden away working, there’s no one there whenever you crawl past. Pretty sure there was a news report a few weeks ago stating that it’s now due for completion next year.
