We appear to be safe this morning

On the weather and all over the internet last night was "RED ALERT - Weather Warning, danger to life!!!"

We got some heavy rain last night, drizzle this morning and now the sun is out.
Even in Scotland, where the rainfall was supposed to be biblical, there have been no untoward reports.

Why this overreaction all the time? Red warnings, yellow warnings - they rarely seem to come to anything.
When there actually is a danger, people will most probably just ignore it thinking that it is just another false alarm.

Caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.

If they warn us and nothing happens it's all "Why?".

If they don't warn us and people get cut off, or worse, they are a waste of rations and are not doing their job.

With something as unpredictable as the weather in a set location they have an almost impossible job.

On balance I would rather be warned and be able to make preparations. If they are not needed I have lost nothing, and they are there for another day.

Agreed WM. So long as it is personal action and preparation of emergency services for the possible outcome I'm good.

Mandatory evacuation I'm not so good with but that didn't happen and wasn't warranted anyway. I guess the bigger issue is the MSM and the biblical event histrionics that usually attends these things.

Well, it looks as though the Met Office got it right.

OK, that's not always the case, but this time it was spot-on.

Cromwell, in our own back yard a plane landing at LBA has been blown off the runway when landing.

I am not more than a few miles from LBA and the winds have been horrendous. Then there's the rain...

I've seen video of a road I know in Tayside which is now a river 6" deep.
