Oh heck!

The water has gone off.

There are four flats in the units on the estate and one downstairs neighbour is doing a kitchen and bathroom refurbishment so it has been a bit noisy as the builders moved in their tools and a few of the new units. No problem there as it has to be done.

Today just before lunch a skip arrived and the ripping out began. The oven, hob, fridge and freezer were put outside for the tinkers to take away and the units and doors and bathroom stuff were to be going in the skip. It was all going ever so well until they accidentally knocked the water meter off and broke the inlet pipe - high pressure water everywhere. That meant the street stop tap for the water main had to be closed, which also meant that all four flats lost water - we share the same main. This at just after 4pm.

Nobody knows when Yorks Water will be round to do the repair as it will mean the floor coming up so that a new piece of pipe can be spliced in.

With that I have packed a bag and booked in to the local Village hotel, at least for tonight. L from below has gone back to her mum and dad's and G next to me has gone to a mates. W, who is having the work done, had already booked to stay at the hotel during the work so at least we can have a pint and a chat about an insurance claim.

The excitement never ends in these parts.

I am now back home.

I passed the waterwoks van on my way in to the estate and the water is back on - but the colour! I left the taps on for minute and flushed the toilet a few times and all looks back to normal. The CH is working so that's a blessing.

W is going to have to get new carpets for the hallway but apart from that the damage was minimal - insurance job. He just needs to get the kitchen / bathroom fitters back in to finish what they were doing but hopefully without any more mishaps.

I am now going out for something to eat. The flat is so cold having not had any heating overnight so I'll leave the CH on and let it get more comfortable.
