Osc, mum used to make a suet free mincemeat that had all sorts of fruits and spices in it as well as crushed hazelnuts. It was "cooked" using lemon juice and sweetened with demerara sugar. Can't remember pineapple, but chopped candied peel, glacé cherries and diced apples were in there. No currants, as dad hated them, and dad made the laws. :D
