Just found out that friend, who celebrated her 72nd birthday on Tuesday, had a fall today and is now in Beja Hospital, waiting for an x-ray. Possible broken hip.

Molly has a huge hole in her tail

Something rather nasty has bitten her, probably a snake

She-s had a lot of chopped chicken, we had chicken breasts for dinner and she is a little bit unusually quiet.

Really sorry about your friend's hip, Jan. Sending my best xxx

Poor Molly, keep an eye on her Jan, in case her tail gets infected :?

We never did get to the match tonight.

We left home at 5 which gave us 3 hours to drive 70 miles, but due to accidents on the M6 it was down to two lanes in Cheshire with a two hour delay so we got off and rerouted through Stoke (as directed by the Waze app) but had only gone 20 miles from home by 7pm so as soon as we got to a motorway junction we got back on and headed south. We were home just after 7.30pm.

I was thinking back to 30 years ago and driving up for evening kick offs. I’d leave work at 5.30pm, go home and change and we’d leave the house by 6. We’d park a 5 minute walk away from the ground and be sitting in the stand with a pie at around 7.30pm. And back then the motorway in that direction was only three lanes whereas much of it has four now.

It’s incredible that Joe’s flight left Birmingham at 3.10pm today and at 6.15pm he was in a football stadium in the Czech Republic
Yet we couldn’t travel the 70 miles to Manchester in that time on Wednesday!

The longer it takes to get to Manchester the better it is. If you never get there it's bliss.
So say those of us from Leeds ;)

Hard luck, Jo :( I never did like driving on the M6 north, it was always a bit of a 'mare.

Good for him!

Reminds me of a holiday trip with a mate in 1974.
We left home in Birmingham around 8:00 at night, train to Watford Junction. airport bus to Heathrow, something like an 10:00 flight to JFK, taxi into New York, check in at hotel and straight out again, subway to Shea Stadium, and we were in our seats and singing "The Star Spangled Banner" by about 7:00 local time!! We were dead on our feet! :D Baseball - New York Mets vs Philadephia Phillies (if I recall correctly!)

I could not do that today.

That would’ve taken a bit of planning to bring it all together 50 years ago Ossie!

He wasn’t just in the but he was in the stand drinking beer, we’re not trusted to do that over here.

As for the M6, I have an app on the Highways app on my phone which I keep an eye on before we travel as it shows the traffic flow, and we use Waze in the car which shows how we’re doing and if we’re about to have a hold up.
Problem with evening games though is that we’re not able to go any earlier because Joe has to get home from work in Warwick, but even so 3 hours should be plenty. And we don’t want to knock weeknight cup games on the head because then we’re ineligible to apply for away tickets.
