What is it with this ironing malarkey?

When I read the daily thread somebody is always doing ironing... sometimes day after day. Are you all mad or addicted?

I have been in shorts, underwear and T-shirts since mid April and do very little ironing. I never iron towels or bedding as there is no point; once used or slept in they are back the where they were before ironing. Jumpers are dried flat on one of those heated horizontal clothes horses so they need no ironing; and who on earth irons socks and underpants?

Ah well, I suppose that it is a mystery that will never be solved.

In fairness, I draw the line at socks and knickers!! I fold as much as I can, summer is good for that as Edward wears quite a few polo shirts. But I do like his shirts and shorts, my tops, trousers and shorts to be nicely ironed, plus of course bedding which MUST be ironed!

I hate ironing, so my (very cheap) iron stays in the cupboard for most of the year. The only things things I iron are cotton holiday clothes and these days that's only once a year. Everything else is given a good shake and folded, works a treat

Itake the kingsize sheets to a local dry cleanin shop tobe roned. Itried it once but it was not a success. So evry few weeks I take one sheet which is dry
to be ironed. Cmes back neatly folded.

I ro everything else like my wife used to do. THat is apart rom woolly jumpers.

Saturday when a fella would come in and say camouflage my suit a press in getting married today then when he called back with a box of chocolates as a thanks little old ladies who really just needed a cuppa that you made them and matter go i could write a book

Frank, I hate ironing but we have pure cotton bedding (kinder on my sore skin), and it feels wrinkled and horrid if not ironed. We also wear a lot of cotton clothes, and so needs must

I most certainly do NOT iron underwear or towels!

I'm odd in that I actually don't mind ironing, and I would iron a lot more (or rather - let's be honest - iron full stop) if I had somewhere to leave the ironing board up all the time and didn't have to faff about getting everything out a cupboard and then no proper space for everything etc. I just get so frustrated that I don't bother. So everything comes off the line and is either folded and packed away or hung up. Or - thrown over the door'drobe or chair'drobe

Yes, that's a lot of us...

Kaz, most of my stuff is cotton or wool - pruritus - so I do iron some things... but not bedding.

Cotton sheets and pillow cases get ironed, as do t-shirts and blouses.

My nan used to iron everything that wasn't tied down. Even the tea towels
