Domain Name System server.... it pairs addresses you type www.whateverdot. com to IP addresses 192.168.200.123

Some are faster than others - a lot faster.

If you run DNSBench immediately, without building your personal list, it takes about 2 mins and should give you some ideas.

It will probably give you 192.168.1.1 as the fastest route out, assuming you have not changed your router config. This is your default gateway and can be ignored.

The Conclusions tab will give you a lot more info once the scan is done.

Sigh...it's done it, BUT no conclusions because stupid, stupid, malwarebytes decided to block a whole load of dnsbench.exe things...so now I guess I'll have to turn the protection off and do it all over again...

Am going mad. Can't find where/how to change dns servers.
Report said:
"Unless you have some specific reason not to, you should give serious thought to disabling your router's provisioning of DNS services (which it is providing for all computers on your local network). After this is done, a fresh reboot of your computers will likely reveal the multiple DNS nameservers provided by your ISP. This is a superior configuration, without an under-powered router acting as a incompetent middleman and impeding all DNS access."

But it doesn't tell me how to do the disabling... :( Have been all over network/connections etc... ready to scream now.

On the plus side, while it was running I made a lemon drizzle cake :)

Do it on the computer first.

R click on the internet connection icon in the system tray>>> Open Network and Sharing Center>>>R click Local Area Connection>>>Click Properties button>>>Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4>>>Click on Properties>>>Highlight Use the following DNS server addresses>>> Enter the best two from DNSBench as Preferred and Alternate.

Click your way out. No reboot needed.

BTW what were the best two server addresses?

Wm you're such a star...but none of that seems to have fixed anything :(

Ok, the speed tests.
Before any alterations download = 0.5mb/s, upload = 0.7mb/s.
After changing servers d/load = 0.3mb/s, upload = 0.7 mb/s.

BUT, both uswitch and speedtest said my provider is talktalk, which it's not, it's aol :?
In uswitch you can change it, which I did, then the results told me I'd be much better off with aol :?
It said speeds for aol were 29.7mb/s download...??

Am now far more confused than ever  :?

And no, the stupid fb games still won't load/play...
