It’s possible that once Babylon was uninstalled, MSE recognised that what was left over had to be stuff which intentionally stayed installed and deleted it.

Good news though.

Norton 360 blocks attempts to redirect your home page, search engine etc, at least by code out of the user control.

Just a quickie to update..

Babylon came back again into IE. So I've stopped using IE now, and have installed Microsoft Bing.

I like it very much. It has a lot of extra features.

But I'll keep a sharp lookout for that Babylon swine.

Aggers, sadly your experience confirms what I found when looking at the problem - sites that claim to remove Babylon only disable it and it can come back again and again and ............

The only sure ways of getting rid of it are to edit the registry or do a clean install of Windows.

However, to make your surfing more secure you might want to download and install an alternative browser from those already infected. Any new install will write its own new registry entries without any links to Babylon. Unfortunately you cannot use new versions of the original Chrome or Firefox as they will only update the already infected registry entries. You need alternatives.

If you are thinking of going this route it would be wise to make a system restore point before AND after installation.

I hope this can be of help.

I have installed Comodo IceDragon and am running it with the following add-ons:
Adblock Plus 2.2.4 (prevents adds)
NoScript 2.6.6.2 (added security)
Tab Mix Plus 0.4.1.0 (makes tabs work the way I like)
Zoom Page 6.3 (does it quickly for those hard to read bits)

To get them you need to go to click on the Dragon icon, then Add-ons, then Get Add-ons and from the new page enter the title I have given and select install, the version numbers are not needed. This is the Firefox clone and it works - quick and secure.

I have also installed Comodo Dragon, the Chrome clone. This is running with the following extensions:

AdBlock 2.5.61 (prevents ads)
TabsPlus 8.8.2 (tab options)
NotScripts 0.9.6 (added security)

Also very quick and secure. To get these extension click on the Dragon and from the menu choose Tools, then Extensions and click on the Get more extensions link. Put the extension title without the version numbers in the search box and install.

Comodo is a reputable company and its products, many of them free, are well thought of and trusted.
