Catholic Church and Sexual Abuse.

Postby KateLMead » 11 Jun 2013, 06:22

It was sickening witnessing the intrigue to protect the filthy priests, the sexual abusers within the Catholic Church that is and always has been a haven for perverts and paedophiles.
The poor children are still sitting targets to be raped and sexually abused whenever the paedophiles who represent the church so desire.
And what is worse they are and have been protected from exposure since time immemorial. Like all governments, the protection racket corruption and lies are par for the course. The deaf who were some of the vulnerable youngsters targeted have finally exposed some of these perverts.. Let us hope it blows the supposed sanctity of the Catholic church apart

Do you have a link Kate, or is this just a general comment?
Sadly there have always been abusers in positions of trust and people who will cover up for them. You will find them in the all churches, schools, children's homes etc. Not all priests are 'filthy' and nor are they all 'perverts' and 'paedophiles'. I hope and believe that they are actually a minority, but that is no excuse or a reason to protect them from the law. You will never hear about all the wonderful priests that toil away for no money. I have known a few in my time. Wonderful caring 'Christian' men. Believe it or not, they do exist.

The programme was on TV last night up until around midnight, It was shocking and it was stated that Pope Benedict like all thos in the Vatican and elsewhere have been aware of the shocking abuse common knowledge but mouths kept tightly shut..
It is nothing new this abuse has been going on since time immemorial.. The deaf who were on who have suffered since childhood with guilt unable to discuss what they suffered, however they have received psychiatric treatment and Counselling, one man said the rage in him when he finally exposed the priest in question was explosive, he had not even been able to tell his wife.. The abuse is widespread and has been covered up Lozzles.. I have known wonderful priests, our own in our village is a wonderful man. However we had another (Christian) clergyman in the locality who is in prison for sexually abusing youngsters in his congregation.. The Vatican and those representing it is a paedophiles charter

It isn't just the Catholic church. I knew of a case in the C of E years ago and this was hushed up.

It has happened in many areas of life and probably always will. People need to guard their children and not leave them in a vulnerable situation.

What a state of affairs Rodo when one cannot trust those who should be trustworthy, that children need to be on their guard.. and even more shocking is that this abuse has been a situation where the abusers have been protected

But Kate, all the blame cannot be laid at the door of Catholicism. All religions have carried out abominations, and still do. At least in the West the various Christian sects have been exposed, but there are other religions in other parts of the world, some imported here, which are carrying out equally abhorrent practices and we are only just beginning to notice them - female circumcision, the casting out of Devils, the brainwashing of the Madrassas.

I understand the anger, but let us not pretend that abominations are unique to Catholicism. At least the doors are open a chink with Christian sects, that is not so with other religions.

I could not agree more Frank, and we see examples of a multitude of abuse each and every day.
