Them and their allies. Jets refused access to airspace, forced to land, Presidents treated as common people regardless of treaties.

The question I guess you have to ask is "What are they so scared about becoming public that they will destroy anyone who leaks confidential material".

Could they, perhaps, be sitting on information which proves that the US and to an extent the UK and many other UN countries, are war criminals.....

Because this fury is not about some leaked information on spying. This fury is about what "might" be released if every whilstleblower is not controlled and their life destroyed. Let enough people get away with it and the big one might come out.

They are more and more scared as each year goes by.

Enough has come out of this particular set of leaks to make one seriously wonder about the extent of state manipulation and control of the people, whatever country you reside in.

"Democracy", as in "Western Democracy", needs a serious definition revision.

Yet there are people out there - the 'done nothing wrong, nothing to fear brigade' - who think that biometric ID cards and passports, DNA databases, the tracking of every e-mail and phone call, two-way and voice/face recognition CCTV cameras on every lamp post etc. etc. - all in the WAR against TERRORISM - are good ideas.

In other news: Microsoft helped the NSA spy on users of Otloook.com (Hotmail or Livemail to many of us) and also Skype and SkyDrive. And the Russian government has ordered thousands of electric typewriters because they are more secure for confidential reports than digital methods. It is going back to old-school secretarial pools, even skipping back over dumb terminals and secure intranets not even connected to the outside world.

I can't understand this attitude but it is very prevalent.
