Homeopathy

I see that Prince Charles is campaigning for homeopathy to be recognised and to be taken up by the NHS.
Apparently he has been writing to members of Government urging them to take it on board.

As our future monarch I think he should not be taking such action, however convinced he may be of the
benefits of this method of treatment.

Personally I believe that the reason homeopathy is favoured by some people is simply because of the placebo effect.
I find it impossible to accept the idea that the more a substance is diluted the more effective it can become. If this
was the case, why don't they put a few drops of medicine in our reservoirs when there is a pandemic?

Whether Charles should be interfering is another matter.
As to whether homeopathy works or not is quite a moot point. Even if it was proved beyond all doubt that it doesn't, would that placebo effect be a bad thing?

It is an abuse of his position and he should be told, in no uncertain terms, to stop immediately or face prosecution. It is lobbying of the worst kind, pure and simple.

I'm with Rodo, if it works it doesn't matter if it is placebo or not??? The mind/body connection cannot be overstated, it is immensely powerful - I know that from my hypnotherapy training and work.......

We spend so much money on powerful drugs, why can't we invest some in alternative or complementary treatments?

We already use alternative remedies. My GP will refer patients for osteopathy, acupuncture or hypnotherapy, but they are known to work. Trial after trial has been carried out on homeopathy and it always fails to deliver.

However, this is not about alternative treatments, it is about the heir to the throne demanding that his beliefs be heard and acted upon simply because of who he is.

It might not be a bad idea for the Government Chief Medical Officer, Prof. Sally Davies, to announce publicly that she will take note if and when he, Charles, comes up with a series of independent clinical trials proving without any doubt that it works.

Voice his opinion: yes. Let him write to the Times or DM, but as future King he should not be lobbying ministers for his cause célèbre. He should be apolitical, and that should be very forcefully pointed out to him.

Perhaps it is starting to dawn on him that he might never be king? After all the Queen was very young when he was born - she is 87 and seemingly fit as a fiddle, he is almost 65 and looks it - and he wouldn't be the first man to be outlived by his mother.......The Queen Mum went on to 101, HM might be the same but Charles might not make 80, in which case William would be King....Even if Charles does make the throne it will probably be for a very few years........

Perhaps he has decided to use his influence hw and where he can, as the main prize might well never be his...............

It would be simpler for everyone if he doesn't become King at all. It would solve the problem of what to call Camilla.
