I can feel my arteries clogging..... but I want some. :D

Well, actually, I want an idea for a modification. I only like chocolate as chocolate. Biscuits, buns, drinks, sauces, icings - no thanks.

Sooo, anyone got any ideas for a good alternative to the chocolate muffins, please?

You'll never believe what came in the post this afternoon :P

Enough to make a cheesecake, plus a slab each for John, Tom and Joe and a wrapped package for me which feels distinctly like even more tablet!

You can use the idea for all sorts of combinations, so long as they're sensible matches, but if you wanted to stick to the cherries, maybe blueberry muffins?
What you do want, with this recipe, is the compote or pie filling, and cherry works best really. The point of it is that you then don't have to have separate sponges and jam.
Would ginger loaf work with cherries? I think it probably would ;)

Edited to add - Re the arteries, it's not that bad WM, given that the whole thing serves 10-12 people.

Ooh lucky you Jo :P
There was one thing I liked even more. As a child my favourite sweet was fudge, but I was quite fussy about it. There was one stall at Gainsborough market, where my granny lived, that sold a particular (soft) fudge with a distinctive flavour.
It's the only place I've ever tasted it, and I've tasted a lot of fudge!

Di, I'm quite a fudge fan too. There's a little old-fashioned shop in Bude that we always go to which is lovely.
I wonder what was in that fudge in Gainsborough that made it so distinctive?

I honestly don't know Jo, it was supposedly just plain fudge :o
Sad to say, it's such a long time since I tasted it now that it's actually fading, but I do know if I ever tasted it anything like it again I'd know instantly...
There was an ice cream too though, Sargent's (maybe Sergeants), which came to the market, but also if we went to Cleethorpes then sometimes on the way we would stop at the farm that made it. Now that was also a very distinct flavour, and not dissimilar - I wonder whether there might be a connection, if not the maker then the type of milk/cream/breed of cow??? Secret ingredient? :o
