Daft Diets

Postby Workingman » 01 Nov 2013, 15:18

You know the sort of thing: Eat only green midget gems and drink six glasses of skimmed milk heated to 28.7C daily for a month......

Well, there's a new kid on the block: The government's 20% price rise diet. This new diet is guaranteed to reduce your purchases by 15%.

Yes. The price of a unit goes up by 20% so you only buy 85% of what you bought before, saving you err.......... Maybe I should have mentioned that this is about sugary drinks....... So, no you won't save money, but you will save a whopping 28 calories a week! Yes, dear bretheren, by us putting 20% on the price of your pop you will save 4 calories a day! Hallelujah! Your lives will be changed, all lives will be changed. If you are fat or obese the weight will drop off in no time. If you are not fat or obese you will never become so, but you still have to pay. And don't forget, it puts £275 in the treasury tills for us to spend on..........

Think I am making it up?

When are these idiots going to realise that taxing every "bad" thing off the shelves and other forms of social engineering are not going to work? This is the latest in a list including minimum price per unit of alcohol, tax on pies and pasties, on takeaways, on ready-meals, size limits on chocolate bars......

4 calories a day will reduce obesity numbers by about 250,000? Yer 'avin a larff guv.

The Devil makes work for idle hands......... :)

But I do not mind playing the Devil's advocate to bring these insidious bits of research to people's notice when they can and often are used to form government policy.

Apparently there are problems with alcohol abuse and obesity, but it is easier to hit everyone in the pocket rather than tackling the problems head on. I am sick and tired of it.

And me!

When people change to the chemical laden, artificial sweetener, low calorie versions and are still obese, but with damaged brains, and the money stops rolling in some University at the end of the street will be paid to do some research....

Expect proof that:
Cakes and biscuits make you fat... tax 'em
Lying in bed does not burn off enough calories.... tax beds
Sitting on the sofa watching TV does not burn off enough calories.... tax furniture, TVs and up the licence fee
Thinking about food makes you fat... you just know that they will try to tax thinking

And yes Saundra, people are paid good money for this nonsense.

And whiskey. Still got two bottles which I have not yet opened. Went to Sainsburys today and got twelve bottles of wine for mrs.e. There was 25% off for six bottles. They only had 12 of the ones mrs.e wanted.

They say sugary drinks are the worst if you are trying to slim, fructose the most easily absorbed form of sugar without the fibre to mitigate it.
