Tragedy. Poor poor Philippino's

Heartbreaking to see the terrible tragedy created by the tornado. Shacks that would not afford any protection by the thousands destroyed. Children and families terrified,homeless and those struggling to find sanctuary. Thankfully We did not suffer these tragedies when we lived there. The Philippine people are a lovely race, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to them

There was a poster on the DD board, "ex-Bognor", who lived in Cebu, which was one of the islands badly affected. I've lost touch with that board now, but I do hope he and his family made it through the storm OK ......

He is still a poster on DD Ossie and is still on Cebu.

Nothing has been heard of him since Thursday when he posted to say the winds were very strong and he had been outside fastening things down and also getting a good store of water and cooking plenty of rice whilst they still had power.

We are all very worried about him and are hoping that they simply don't have internet connection.

I so enjoyed hearing from him Debih, lovely man and lovely family, sadly he lost one young member when we were communicating, (George? ) Was great to communicate with on DD, I lost touch when I left the forum. When you do get through again please send him our love, hopes, and support. What has happened doesn't bear thinking about. 10,000 thought to have lost their lives, it's almost like a world wide Armageddon.

I also thought about 'ex-bognor' when Cebu was mentioned.

His tales about his "very" extended family were a pleasure to read. I hope they are all safe and well.

I see that the death toll is 12,000 and rising and that 500,000 are left homeless. There are also evacuations from coastal districts in Vietnam - 600,000+ people.

We cannot even begin to imagine the ferocity of such storms.

You are right Frank. God knows how they will cope there. As said let's hope that ex B is OK. I am in touch with Phillip perhaps he has some news.

Thanks Debi, I thought of ExB too when I heard of the storm, even though it has been over 5 years since I last posted there. I do hope he and his family are safe......

Thanks also, Debih, do let us know when you have news. I remember ex-B always used to complain that the underseas internet cable would fail regularly, so I guess "no news is good news" for the moment .....
