This news really infuriated me when I saw it yesterday
There is no doubt that breast is best, I fed Miss Osc for four months and refused to use formula after that - that was back in Dr. Spock days and she was fed with a milk/water mixture after weaning from the breast. Nowadays milk has so much stuff added to it that I suppose it isn't really an option. But to offer £200 is absolute nonsense, here's a novel idea - support new mums in whatever
they choose to do, whether breast or not. Miss Osc struggled with Michael, at first she wasn't eating enough herself, then she got mastitis, and gave up in the end after two months, but at least he had the two months. In a way she had to anyway because she went back to work after three months. Part of her problem was those flipping websites patrolled by breastfeeding Nazis who make you feel inferior if you aren't bursting with milk and feeding your child until he is about 10
It doesn't work for everyone - those who choose not to even try perhaps need more encouragement to have a go, and then have no stigma if they stop. Bribery is not the way to go about it.
