Old Habits Die Hard......

Postby KateLMead » 28 Dec 2012, 16:56

So we have been warned, Old aged pensioners are being deported to Eastern Europe
from Germany and elsewhere due to phenomainal costs of care within their country of birth.. This sends shudders through me having observed the shocking neglect and treatment of the handicapped in the Eastern Block and elsewhere
in these countries where children and probably the aged are tied to their beds. living in misery and often filth......
We have been warned!!! I cannot believe that the elderly and infirm could be treated as less than human due to miss-management of Banks governments and investements they might have made..Their lifes savings and homes stripped bare to support them (if they are lucky)
Whilst seeing those in Westminster fiddling the books in any and every way they know how!! and the aged who fought for this country being abused and forced to sell their homes due to the outrageous costs in old peoples homes in general.. Well we have Pathway that is one way, and now we could have deportation in view is we follow the German idea!!!..Out of sight out of mind....
Since 2010 councils have reduced spending on social care for the elderly by £500 million in real terms whilst tightening the the criteria for those applying for state funded help.....UK Age has stated that lack of social care is leading the vulnerable older pensioners to have an isolated existence..Nothing new!!! Yes we are being made feel a burden it seems if governments cannot get rid of us one way they are seeking and have alternatives in view!!! This country is full of foreigners legal and illegal, we are bursting at the seams and who is paying for them and the mis-management of succesive governments, the elderly, the indigenous the infirm and the tax payer...

And now murderers are being given legal aid to fund costs of applying for IVF treatment.
Seems they have more rights than pensioners.

This is a double edged sword, as this article shows.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/de ... care-world
When it is being done by individuals whose business is it of anyone else? They can spent their money how they like. We do not stop our pensioners from upping sticks and moving overseas to retire, and they do, in their droves. However, if it was the State forcing people to go live in cheaper countries so that it could save money then it becomes a different matter.

I guess that this resonates more because it is focussed on Germany, and Germany has "history".

That is right Frank... "Lest we forget" And our goverment along with the authorities have some great ideas how to lower the old aged stakes... We read every day of the wanton neglect of our elderly in hospitals, and homes.. Un- qualified carer's working through agencies abusing the elderly, and NHS carers, overworked being allowed only 20 minutes with each old person.. No one has time, and those who do have little interest.. We have come excellent carers in our area who are limited with the time they can spend with the elderly..
