They should stop all overseas aid until every person in this country who has been flooded has been recompensed

Mine too Saundra. Standing there just repeating his set script, ignoring questions and droning on and on. He's just typical of the sort of person in parliament, running Quangos, sitting on Think Tanks etc. All the mouth in the world and no real ability to do anything at all apart from talk.
Watching him the thought came to me that we need a revolution in this country.

I have been saying that for years Cromwell. People in this country however are too apathetic.
I screamed when Cameron came out with that damnable cliche "We have Lessons to Learn" can't we drop that bloody mantra made so popular by B'Liar.
We haven't seen B'Liar donate any of his blood money have we? he keeps his interests very much under wraps like the other useless MP 's. Along with his bank balance.
31m spent. on a bird sanctuary but No money for these unfortunate people suffering from the worst floods recorded.
Priorities? What are they?

Not a hint of remorse or contrition from Smith, if anything the opposite. I hope he does not resign, it gives Cameron the chance to sack him and save us all a fortune in Golden Goodbyes and pension payments.

Does Cameron have the balls? No!

Revolution has to be an option in the not too distant future. We cannot go on allowing incompetents to ru(i)n the country. Bring it on!

I love this:

Conservative Mr Liddell-Grainger, who represents Bridgwater and West Somerset, said of Lord Smith's visit: "I will tell him what I bloody well think of him - he should go, he should walk.

"I'm livid. This little git has never even been on the telephone to me. When I find out where he is, I will give it to him.

"He has not told the local MPs, the local council or the local press where he is going to be. He's a coward."

Frank, no MP or government official will "Make Waves" unless he or she is personally affected, or unless they stand to gain,
The previous government is just as guilty for the shocking situation these poor householders, farmers, and businesses are in today what did they do what did they do regarding shoring up defences during the time they were in power and put this country on the rocks.
I cannot believe we are still throwing Aid money at India! And other countries where we all know it lands up in the hands of politicians. Why we are fighting un -winnable wars, Revolution? I would be up front in spite of my age, I bet if the tides arrived and flooded Westminster there would be some immediate action.

Frank I saw what the MP said, and for once agree with a Tory  It was refreshing to hear a politician speaking his true mind for once - obviously his anger got the better of him, and who can wonder?

The local news here runs this story every night, as their main feature, and last night it was live from the Levels - the sheer anger and upset of the people is something else :( Truly heartbreaking.....One woman angrily describing how her whole family have been split up since her house flooded, her children and husband living with different friends and relatives...she was obviously distraught but staying brave until suddenly she announced plaintively "I haven't even got any clothes" and burst into tears :(

The publican with a huge Land Rover who was ferrying people in and out to work and school, bringing in shopping, was asked what he thought of Mr Cameron (finally) visiting, was he pleased the PM was here "Oh yes, we find the PM's visit a big help and comfort" "The reporter nodded and said "Really?" "No, not really........." said deadpan but very bitterly, straight to camera......

The farmer, driving the reporter as he was being interviewed, who had been sleepless for two nights, trying to rescue his livestock, who kept bursting into tears on camera as he was so exhausted and distraught he hardly knew where he was..............

Yes Kaz as I have been spouting stop aid and look after our own. The DM I just see is stating the same thing this morning.
When will these useless wastes of space ever learn. I have posted my feelings on Face Book. Sadly in this country of ours unless individuals are personally affected there is little or no rebellion against the system.

Successive governments have largely got away with mismanagement of the waterways, until now.

Remember the floods of 2007? They cost the economy about £6 billion in damages and repairs and were nationwide - the whole of Britain was affected. Various explanations were offered, and accepted: The rain was unprecedented; we were in a drought; the ground was so hard the water couldn't soak in; the water had to go somewhere and the rivers could not cope with the unnatural volume of water..... Everybody nodded sagely and with promises of massive spending on flood defences we moved on.

But wait! Yesterday Cameron admitted, on camera, that dredging had been abandoned in the 1990s. It cannot surely be a coincidence that the EA was established under the Tories in 1996, can it? No! It was the EA that abandoned dredging and other waterways management processes once done by the Regional and National River Authorities. Could it possibly be that the 2007 floods could have been mitigated if the EA had not existed? We will never know because 1. The explanations were so plausible, and 2. The questions about waterways management were never asked.

Well, they are being asked now, and the government is bloody lucky that the area affected is fairly remote and sparsely populated. Had the country been suffering another 2007, and knowing what we know now, I could well imagine a national uprising and overthrowing of government.

Poor poor people Frank, the majority are displaying that good old British Spirit, depend on Government ? It does not look like they are going to put themselves out. The Marines were supposedly going in today. Haven't seen head nor tail of them yet!!!
15 people hospitalised in Chertsey, one seven year old dead, parents along with the 15 ill admitted to hospital.
Warnings going out if one is suffering with diarrhoea and sickness they should contact their doctor.
As I stated earlier these floods can throw up sickness due to the sewage in the water.. What disgraceful situation.

Kate I had no idea about the incident in Chertsey until I read your post, so I googled it! How awful, I lived just a mile or so up the road from Chertsey, my youngest and my eldest still do!
