so why did the Thais not scramble fighters? -as is the norm nowadays.

if it's hijacked it needs a long runway to land

is it to be used as a weapon at a later date a.k.a 9/11?

where do the hijackers get the fuel from to re-fuel? ,can't buy Avgas at a filling station!

what have they /would they do with the passengers & crew? kill them? otherwise it will take a massive commitment to keep them fed & watered

The oil rig sighting was reported on day three or four of the investigation, along with satellite imagery from China of suspected smoke/debris in the approximate area; both were subsequently dismissed. Quite a few hijacking scenarios have been postulated and also (almost) dismissed due to there having been no claims from anyone as to how or why it was done. There was speculation that this was because the overall action failed, but surely even the ability to take over a B777 is, in itself, a "success" of sorts and worth taking credit for? It would cause huge disruption to aviation security if it were so.

Today we have satellite sightings of debris some 1500 miles off Australia. One piece is 5m in length, the other some 24m, and aircraft are on their way to investigate. The location does not "fit" with any "known" radar tracks so far published, only with the satellite "ping" which gave a huge arc of possibilities from Kazakhstan to Antarctica.

Either by accident or design we, and especially the families, appear to have not been given the full story on the disappearance of MH370.
