The conservatives, entitled sender David Cameron, asking me to join a special briefing on his campaign on the EU elections. Supposedly he's going to take questions after.

Does anyone think this will be anything other than a waste of my time?
Do you think I'll get good odds on whether I can even pose a question, let alone get one answered?

I think the way they will work it is to ask for written questions to be submitted before the meeting in order for them to be vetted and "appropriate" questions selected for Mr Cameron to answer post-meeting. They won't want to risk anyone making him look bad with a tricky question.

I'd go along just to see what the meeting was like.

Thinking it through, my main question is this. Cameron has made a bold statement about how voting Conservative in the European Parliament elections will be a vote for "significant change" in Europe.

In fact the EU parliament has two roles. As far as I know.

1. it can deselect any candidates for the Commission that it does not like
2. if the Council is hung on a vote, the Parliament gets to cast the deciding vote

Now, tell me. Is deciding who can make the laws and only being able to break a deadlock on the actual ruling council when a law is too contentious, any kind of power?

Not in my mind.

So, if the UK population actually knew this, how could Cameron ever claim any credibility when his stance on the EU is patently ridiculous and shows a complete lack of knowledge of the EU. Why would I, or anyone else, trust the Conservatives to represent us in a forum they appear to know exactly nothing about?

If I am anti EU, why would I vote anything other than UKIP??

If I were Cameron I would broker a deal with Farage to take Labour and LiIb Dem seats out of the EU parliament. But that would require hard decisions and leadership. Neither of which has been particularly conspicuous in Cameron's political career.

I had one from Cameron too even though I ceased membership long ago. Usually delete but I did open it and wanted me to register when he might speak to me on the phone. nly chatted to two PMs Douglas Home very much with it and Callaghan not very much with it.

Do you write to them? I've written a few mails to the party chairman outlining what a bunch of pillocks they are over the EU. I ceased membership the year after the election. Perhaps they have me as a floating voter who might publicly support them....

The chair of the local twinning committee arrived late yesterday to discuss travel arrangements for this years twinning visit to Pitlochry. They left after 7pm and tea was coming out of the oven when they phoned. I didn't take the call, best way to keep peace in the home.
