FIFA reports that a special ceremony was held in Russia yesterday to celebrate the commencement of work on the special stadium for the 2018 World Cup.

Very good indeed.
I'm afraid I'm very cynical about international football these days.
It is pretty obvious that Qatar "bought" the right to stage the World Cup (8 officials from the committee that granted them it have since had to resign for corruption), but there's no obvious reason that Russia couldn't have done exactly the same.
FIFA is rotten with corruption from top to bottom, imo.
