Pathway again!!

Postby KateLMead » 10 Jan 2013, 18:31

Today going through some old papers I found a letter that I wrote that was published in the local journal on December 17th 1999 with regard to the shocking neglect of the elderly in some of our hospitals and the way they are being put to their death through Pathway...
Shocking... and the sad thing that this deplorable practice in general arouses so little interest "From the general public"!! A doctor friend visited this evening stated until the doctor who was caring for his mother in law in hospital wished to put her on Pathway.. When he and his wife objected the doctor became arrogant and bullying "That was until he discovered my friend was a doctor himself" She was spared death, and went home to enjoy three more years of love and attention from the family.

I find it so hard to believe that this sort of thing is really going on.

It's like a horrible science-fiction novel.

What I can't understand is that if a certain group of people decide to end someone's life, and
then go on to deprive that person of nourishment for that very purpose, then, surely this is murder ?

What's happened to that ancient code that all doctors have had to swear ?

The more we hear about Pathway the more it looks as though a very well intentioned process (Marie Curie Nursing) has been hijacked by less caring individuals.

Thank goodness the government has opened an independent inquiry into how the practice actually operates.

Euthanasia is nothing new Frank, I was pleased to note that even in 1999 I was fighting this abominable practice...

What upset me recently was a letter written by a nurse who was caring for a 14 year old who had cancer.. He was put on Pathway... it took him ten days to die, with absolutely no fluids the poor lad was so dehydrated his tongue had stuck to the roof of his mouth... he died in agony..
I have two respected doctor friends who are anti the methods being used to reduce the burden that we read about seven days a week, that we the eldery are supposedly creating..
as aggers says..it is beyond belief like a science fiction novel..

There are more ways of putting people to death than putting them in a gas chamber

You can see my petition on Kate L-Mead on my facebook page.. I was amazed to find the letter I wrote in 1999 to the Journal, I do not think it raised too much interesteven in those days Frank... Not only are hospitals paid massive amounts of money but also doctors who are willing to list likely candidates over the coming year.. Pathway is practiced in Homes of patients and also in Old Peoples homes where the neglect of the elderly is no less than criminal in far too many cases cases. You are the boy with the know how Frank "Is it the Department of Health" who is responsible for encouraging and abusing the practice of Pathway to free up beds and to rid society of the elderly and infirm, as well as questionably younger individuals due to this abomination that is taking place within these establishments? Official 160,000 deaths last year and still counting!!!

Kate, it was the Telegraph that broke the story following persistent rumours and a FOI request:

Thanks Frank.. I felt I could depend on you I have placed the video on my facebook. I doubt that protestations will change what has turned out to be a lucrative extra for the NHS

I wonder if the Department of Health has issued a legal definition of ""Treated with dignity" as quoted in their statement in the Telegraph?.
Talking to a friend this week who said he does not want to go into the local hospital if he is ill. He wants to die at home.

Snap.... I have made clear that if I am at risk I will take my chances at home.
I have been fighting this cause for 13 years but these institutions are a law unto themselves.
