We are losing our current female MP from our area. She was useless and could never be contacted about anything.

As a replacement we are having one of those typical woman lawyer types parachuted in. She has lived in St. Albans but claims to know the north west and to care about its small businesses. We shall see. She has to get voted in first.

:roll: I don't believe in 'Positive Discrimination' in politics, I think the right candidate for the job should get it regardless of colour, creed OR gender ;) Usually that would mean someone who knew the area inside out, preferably living or working there..........

It's a good job I am not in charge! :shock: :P

All potential candidates for a seat in the HoC would have to live in the constituency they hope to represent for one year and a day before an election; and have done leg-work for the local party during that time. They would then have to be selected by the local party, regardless of whether central office parachuted them in or not. Then the elecorate would have to give them its blessing.

Yep then all those high sounding schemes would come crashing down as real people took over jobs for the elite...
