For those who have not been following this, it’s becoming quite interesting. The New President Fuad Masum (interesting how many newspapers can’t spell his name), has appointed a new PM and the old PM is trying to destabilise the government to cling to power.

At the same time Obama has opened up weapons shipments to Kurdistan and authorised airstrikes.

This is not a surprise to me. I’ve met Fuad Masum and spoken to him. I know that his eldest daughter was coached by Kissinger to help her with her thesis. The US came after Fuad before Iraq fell and was brought over to Iraq very shortly after Baghdad fell to help in building the interim government.

Now the US has a trusted person at the top who can influence the government, they can push in support which they know will not be used against them.

Wheels within wheels within wheels. I’m sure the US will be coming to the UK to help and assist them as soon as they can sort out a strategy. Whether it becomes public or not is another matter.

The RAF is sending Tornadoes from Marham to Akrotiri after an Hercules aborted an air-drop on "safety" grounds. The Tornadoes, with their superb surveillance equipment, will be able to identify and guide the Hercules' to safe drop-zones, near to but away from the Yazidi refugees.

Of course, if they can do that they can also detect bands of ISIS barbarians and guide in the Yanks.

Coincidence or pragmatism?

Did the Herc pull out for safety reasons or was that part of a planned op?

Step one, boots on ground and gain hard intel on the ground.

Step 2, shred the enemy from a great distance.

Worked before. Will work again every time they want to use it.

I can hardy bear to watch those poor people struggling to get into the helicopters - reminds me of when the Yanks pulled out of Vietnam, I saw similar scenes then and they haunted me for ages :(

Yes, absolutely. Thankfully they are reporting this morning that the situation with the refugees is not as bad as first thought, and many have been able to escape, albeit to a very uncertain future .....

Whatever is reported I believe little.. However many thousands are left to face the slaughter it is one too many.
I understand that we have flown two lots of aid in four days..is this correct. If so we are not overdoing it.
Stop the influx of criminals entering this country, Eastern Europeans and terrorists. Our own country is no longer safe.. (Did I say our Own Country? It's not anymore, and offer constructive help to these poor displaced people. Like Kaz I cannot bear to see the suffering. Christians,
Muslims massacring and killing them burying children ALIVE All in the Name of God.. What an eye opener .
By the way Cameron. And the rest of you wastes of space... Enjoying your holiday?

I note, in the press, that we sent the SAS in. Now strikes are going ahead and aid, both weapons and succour for the displaced, is going ahead.

Now we have spotters on the ground and we are clearing the civilians, it is possible to wage a war of extreme weapons. I expect that to happen next. There is a President in place who will stand on the side of the US, the Prime Minister who supported ISIS is sacked, weapons and capability are building up. Intel is growing on the ground.

It all makes a picture. Hopefully the end will be the kind of lightning war waged on the Taliban in Afghanistan. If you want to hold territory you have to fight. If they stand and fight they'll be massacred. The joker in the pack was the civilians. Who have fled.

Has the makings of a plan.
