Thanks everyone.
I spoke to the vet who is operating. She is due to operate this afternoon, quite late on (it isn't a sterile operation apparently so it wil be one of the last ones). She says that she would rather err on the side of caution and not inflate the balloon too much - she would rather do it more times than too much in one go.
She said that there is no guarantee that it will work but it does have a relatively good success rate, although it does all depend on the thickness of the stricture (the swelling). They won't know straight away if it has worked - they will need to monitor her. They will feed her once she has come round and is okay (that may not be until quite late tonight). They will then repeat it, probably on Thursday. If it works and they need to repeat it again then it probably won't be for a couple of weeks but she will be able to come home in the meantime.
She said that if it does work, the stricture may return but she couldn't say if it would, when it would and how bad it could be.
I expressed my concern about her being stuck in a cage and she said that she does seem very settled and that I wasn't to worry about her in that way. She said that the staff have all fallen head over heels for her and they are constantly taking her out into the yard.
Its just a case of waiting now - which is killing me. I'm not really expecting any news today, other than to tell us that the operation has gone ahead.
