Hi all - Thursday again (pretty much the only chance I get to post in here!)
It's an unpleasant damp drizzly grey day - but at least we don't have snow!! I had a click and collect at Matalan and needed a grocery shop so went for those, and also called round at the Secret Garden for a cherry bakewell scone and a latte, which I consumed in the car
I also bought a caramel blondie for 'ron
(later ron....geddit?
)
Got some sad news earlier, not sure I mentioned last week, The lady I used to work with years ago, was in a coma, having lost her husband to covid before....just heard she's died too
She was only 65. It's made me catch my breath a bit.....it's so close to home now....makes you worried to go out.
An unusual story from yesterday....at work we had a new patient come in, lovely bubbly girl. I dispensed her two pairs of specs, she showed me a photo of her forthcoming wedding dress...could we colour match the sash/ribbon for the specs? Anyway, story short, when she was sat at the desk so I could sort out payment, she asked if she could book an appt for 'the kiddo'....she referred to the child as 'them' or 'they' so I at first assumed there was more than one....I took a DOB (child is 9) and then when she clarified it
was only for one child, I must've looked puzzled and that's when she told me the child is gender neutral.....so as our computer system wouldn't let me book the child in without a title (Miss/Master) and the lady wouldn't/couldn't give me one, we agreed on Rev, as that is a gender neutral title
. I consider myself fairly liberal in my attitude but I was a bit taken aback that such a young child would be so insistent upon their situation. We've yet to meet Temby (their first name) or their female parents....but that'll be interesting...
