Halogen Oven

Postby lissie » 09 Oct 2013, 11:26

On a whim I have bought myself a halogen oven.
Why :?: I don`t know :?
Has anyone got one and if so your comments please.
The bright light is very pretty but apart from that I
don`t understand how to use it :?

I haven't used one Lissie and know nothing about them but my mum bought one about a year ago.

It sat on the side for months, gathering dust, as she didn't understand how to use it.

Then I stumbled across a cookery book in the library and got it out for her. She hasn't looked back since and now uses it three or four times a week. She bought the book from Amazon, along with a couple of other similar ones.

My sister and SIL became hooked on these about four or five years ago. They each had husbands who worked away and a couple of mid-teens to cater for so during the week the things were hardly ever turned off.

I also know of others who swear by them for doing whole meals for couples or small families.

I've had one for about 15 or so years. I call it an airator oven.
When I've used it, it'd fantastic. I've done everything from bacon to roast chicken. But, I have to admit, I've barely used it in the last 5.
My friend is currently renovating her kitchen, and her stove broke about 6 months ago, so she is using mind as her main cooking method as the moment (that and the BBQ)
My FIL swears by his. The lids are hot during use, and are heavy to hold while you fiddle with the food inside, so you either need a hot plate to rest it on, or, they use there's under kitchen cupboards, so the screwed in a hook to hang it from.
Everything happens for a reason
