Life choices 'behind more than four in 10 cancers', screams the BBC headline, and goes on to say, "More than four in 10 cancers - 600,000 in the UK alone - could be prevented if people led healthier lives, say experts." - 300,000 smokers, 145,000 who eat processed food, 88,000 obese and 62,200 who drink.

It is only when we read on that we find the figures cover five years and that the "could be" is just that; it is not definitive. The truth is that nobody knows how many of the cancers would be caught it the sufferers were stick-thin teetotalers who only ate organic food and exercised like Olympic athletes in clear fresh air.

It is a pretty odd way to get us to change our lifestyles and a gross insult to those six out of ten who get cancer through no fault of their own. Maybe the experts' time would be better spent looking at the six in ten innocents, 300,000 per year, and asking what can be done to lessen their suffering; or would that be too difficult?

We are told.dont eat this, don't eat that.! Don't drink this don't drink that...no mention of Lord Sainsburies GM crops that have flooded the market. Radon. The crap pre packed foods containing undesirable questionable contents. Drinking water. Suspect.
Sub standard Drugs and the companies who buy their way with bribes to those doctors in surgeries..
Safe in their hands ? Most of the time we survive inspite of the mish mash of the NHS and those dodgy statistics.
