Workingman wrote:UKIP would be daft to get embroiled in any ballyhoo about manifestos. One of the least likely questions a canvasser will come across on the doorstep is: "Do you have a copy of your manifesto?" Any print run to meet demand would be one of the shortest on record. The public know that they are fiction and not worth reading.

I take very seriously the point that political manifestos in the past have been worthless.
What is needed is legislation that makes it a criminal offence not to abide by election promises.

But, as this requires the guilty parties to pass such a law, this is most unlikely.

It's up to the voters not to support those who have deceived us in the past.

It's a free country so you can vote freely - I just hope the UKIP voters don't come to regret it when and if they have a decent amount of MPs :? A lot of their ideas are rather off the wall..........................It is dangerous to 'Protest vote' sometimes :?

I'm sure you're right, and that's what worries me. It's much better to vote for what you believe in IMO. I can see why people want to protest, this current bunch are a nightmare, but say Farage actually got in? Do any of you know what he actually stand for rather than him just being against immigration? :?

That's the point.

He can't get in. His party is "For" leaving the EU. It's a single issue party. Forget everything else when it comes to voting time. Want out of the EU? Vote UKIP. Want to stay? Vote for anyone else.

It really is that simple. The press make it more difficult because they don't want to leave the EU....

UKIPs issue is the EU and immigration. However, they have to have a manifesto of some description, as anyone who votes for a Party does need to know the aims and intentions of that Party. UKIP wont get a majority so will have to negotiate, hopefully not with Labour! I don't think it can be blamed however if it cannot fulfil everything in its manifesto. The two main Parties are in for a shake up and the electorate will have to be realistic about what the smaller Parties can achieve.

What's the point of having a manifesto if it's a collection of lies, as has been the case in previous elections?

There is no doubt in my mind that previous Governments in the UK, with their policies concerning immigrants,
are bringing this country to its knees. They are destroying the country that thousands gave their lives for in
two world wars. I hope UKIP gets in with a great majority. If it consequently proves to have been a mistake,
then blame the likes of Blair and Cameron.
