I was doing to do dauphoinoiseey potatoes tonight or how ever you spell that blasted things.

got the garlic, used my slicer thingy for the spuds, got the creme fraiche - a rartity -

No milk.

Well, I had milk, but we only have that vile stuff and it had gorn orf.

Had another minor melt-down (my second this week) but decided to use the poatoes, garlic and creme fraiche, along with a large carton of
bechmel sauce, we we have in abundance here.

Well, it was either that or try and find a shop open - at this time of night? not in Portugal - or throw those spuds out and have steamed ones.

It's in the oven and I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Lol Ton I'm forever finding I don't have the one ingredient I 'always' have :D
I don't really do proper dauphinoise, too rich for me, I just use milk, heated with the garlic, and a bit of grated parmesan on top :)

I couldn't eat it all Di - yes it was rich, but only because himself asked for a gert load of cheese on top, in caee it was nasty.

It was really good. May try it again . when I'm more sober

I've told Grumpy, that, as from tomorrow, we're on a small portion of food, no beer or wine diet.

Apart from Wednesday, as we're going down to the Capri :D :D
