The bl**dy UNHCR

Postby Workingman » 15 Apr 2015, 15:08

It is feared that 400 illegal immigrants are thought to be dead after a boat capsized of Libya; and according to the UNHCR it is the EU's fault.

I would like to see someone from the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) stand up and in no uncertain terms tell the UNHCR to go ream itself. He should also invite its members to get off their rear ends and do something about the situations in the countries where these migrants are coming from. Then he should force them to do something about the people traffickers operating outside of the EU. Then he should invite them to come back once their own house is in order and tell them that the EU will look at any workable proposals they have for solving the problem. If they have none he should inform them that they will be sent away to think again.

It seems to me that it is the United Nations that should be taking some
action to put an end to the atrocities taking place in Africa. There is no
doubt that the Islamic State militants are an evil force that should be
stopped before they can commit any more of their barbaric atrocities.

We can see what is happening. The UN is using a compliant global media to put the blame for its failings, and failed countries, onto others.

Isn't it strange that societies that have worked hard down the years to make themselves safe at home are to blame, according to the UN, for the rest of the world's inability to do so?

I must admit I have reached the stage where I think.

"You knew you were doing something illegal, you knew the risks, don't bother me with it". I simply don't even look any more. If they were at home trying to make their home country a better place, then they would not have drowned in the Med. To me that is simple.

As has already been said. The EU simply can't take all the people who want to run away from the responsibility of making their country a better place and try to "get rich quick" in the western world....

The politicians should "grow a pair" and deal with it.

What does the UN want, exactly?

"More needs to be done" to rescue "migrants"? (Illegal immigrants, actually).

Like what? Ensuring that every illegal immigrant leaving Africa gets to Italy? Thus breaking your own law?

That's not a rescue operation, that's a transportation system.

So do they think that anybody from anywhere has the right to live anywhere they want to live? Because I don't.

Too right Vic.

The Daily Telegraph carried a story yesterday that the smuggling gangs are ringing the Italians up to tell them where the boats will be, so the Italians can pick them up!

This is madness.

It's time for the hearts and flowers to stop and for these people to be turned around and pointed straight back to where they came from.

That is the only way to stop this madness; and it has to be a continuous process of intercept and turn back.

If it is done day after day after day the message should eventually get through.

Yes, this. Mind you, I don't think it's fair to leave it all to the Italians, though, I think it should be an EU initiative. But I agree with towing them back to Africa, and I'd like to see the EU "establish" a controlled port on the African mainland in order to disembark them, with the means of transporting them from there back to their country of origin.
