Yes, that overboard business is shocking, and shows the mentality, yet Europe is supposed to welcome such people with open arms? :?

The problem is, aside from the religious fanatics, that Europe cannot possibly accommodate all of those who want to leave Africa. Africans need to make their own countries better, and that can only be done from the inside :? :(

Well, here is one of the problems.

Population in 1973 Population 2013
Nigeria - 60 million - 173 million
Ethiopia - 31 million - 94 million
Cameroon - 7 million - 22 million
Sudan - 11 million - 38 million
Niger - 5 million - 18 million
Chad - 4 million - 13 million
Iraq - 11 million - 32 million

Part of the reason why there are so many illegal immigrants busting a gut to get to Europe is the population explosion in so many of these countries. And that is down to them, not us. Typically the population of the countries above has tripled in forty years. This isn't sustainable.

Yep. And we have no reliable way of checking who these people are or what their intentions may be.

If we can see all these things then how come those who are paid rather large sums of, global, taxpayers' money cannot also see them? Does the air conditioning or central heating (depending on the season) in their plush offices turn their brains to mush?

Slightly off topic, but I've had to turn the TV off. That little rodent Yvette Cooper is on talking about immigration.

How does she, or any Labour politician, have the nerve after importing millions during their last government?? After according to Mandelson "sending out search parties" to look for them?

Miliband is allegedly going to apologise for Labour's past "mistakes" on immigration. What mistakes? According to the last Telegraph poll immigrants are 68% more likely to vote for Labour than for any other party. The more immigrants there are, the more Labour voters there are. No "mistakes" there, I think!

That discussion was had with a Labour canvasser on my doorstep. She could not cope with it. It was me who had it all wrong, you see. Immigrants were essential. The country needed them, pensions needed them, and so it went on. I was wrong: end of!

So while Milliband, Cooper and Balls might want to whisper about the 'mistake' for short term political gain they will not actually be doing anything to undo it or prevent its continuance. And their grass roots supporters and foot sloggers disagree with what is being said by the leadership.

The whole situation turns my stomach over, B'Liar gave Gadaffi the "kiss of Death" and the destruction of a nation followed as It did in Iraq due to his lies. I truly believe we will see what is happening in Syria will happen here. Death and destruction whilst government and parties lie through their teeth attempting to fool the public. This country is facing grave danger it is only a matter of time. I intend voting UKIP we need someone like Farage to fight our corner and release us from the deadly Grip of Europe.

Well that's that then. The BBC interviewed somebody from the UN this morning who was praising Germany for taking so many "refugees" and saying everybody else should be doing the same.

No, these are illegal immigrants. If an illegal immigrant decides to walk to Italy over the Med, that decision doesn't mean that we should have to rescue him!

The BBC is obviously aware of public opinion on this matter, since they were stressing how difficult it was for the illegals, how dangerous Libya was etc etc.

It makes me so mad.

You've actually had a canvasser?  :o :o

Bully for you! We've had two leaflets from the Tory Toff, and that's it!

(I cut out his mugshot and pinned it on a corkboard with a staple through his nose. Political discussion can get a bit childish in this house, sometimes .....    )
