Since the introduction of Twenty20 the batting text book has been torn up.
When I played everything, apart from a hook or a pull, was met with a straight bat. Anything wide down the leg or the off was left alone. Nowadays there is a lot of flat batting or playing across the line and that makes more balls playable. It also makes field setting a nightmare because today's shots can go anywhere.
But well done to the lad. A ton in 85 balls is no mean feat in any form of the game.
