Yes you make really good points there Debih, and TBH Becky learned the hard way when she started Uni, as she never showed the least interest in food shopping or cooking growing up :roll:

Harry is a bit more interested, but then when you eat as much as he does I suppose that's helpful

I agree about the BOGOFs

The woman in last week's family though was just plain lazy, and cheerfully admitted as much throughout the programme :shock:

Bb and I have often said that we were probably lucky that while we were growing up there weren't all the easy options there are now.
He's younger than me but even so, convenience foods ran to Findus crispy pancakes - which they had.
Both our mothers worked full-time (mine was part-time till I was 11); I'm quite sure if my mum had had the chance she'd have been buying a lot more ready meals and things. Fish fingers were about as convenient as it got!
Plus as Debih says, the shops weren't open. Mum usually used to go after work on a Thursday when Sainsburys opened later...it was hard work.

Yes, the only thing we had in our tiny wee freezer compartment - those tiny ones you got at the top of the fridge in those days, the size of a letterbox - was a packet of fish fingers and a bag of frozen peas :lol:

Debs, knowing how to cook is one thing, but knowing how to shop!

We all buy unnecessary things, sometimes, but to do it habitually has become the modern way. Many of us are suckers for advertising and non-bargains that look like a good deal.

The main thrust of the programme is to get the idiots to buy cheaper bad choices; with only a tilt of the hat at getting them to change their lifestyles and prepare better food.
