I am not the slightest bit bothered by a person going through transgender surgery. In fact if it helps their mental state and makes them feel more comfortable in themselves then, providing thorough checks are made to establish that happiness, why not?

However, whilst such procedures make them look and act like the opposite sex they are not biologically so and never will be. That obviously causes problems in law, which is how this all started.

But to get back to my OP. Vicky Thomson was a man. "She" might have been known by a female name, worn female clothes and 'identified' as a woman, but she was still a man.

Her solicitor, Mr Hussain, described Ms Thompson, who had not undergone gender reassignment surgery, as a vulnerable transgender person.

A vulnerable individual, no doubt about that, and one needing care.

As for Tara Hudson, the story beggars belief.

"Her" trail heard a very drunk Hudson had headbutted bar manager Christopher Dyer after she was refused any more alcohol. Mr Dyer needed £1,500 worth of dental surgery following the attack.

Definitely deserving of a prison sentence, but where?

Well, Ms Hudson also goes by the name Tia Star. Unlike 'her' alter-ego she is not a make up artist but a 'shemale' escort, as her advert proclaims.

Six years of TG manipulation might have removed facial hair, botoxed the lips and eyebrows, pumped up the boob job enhanced boobs, but the family jewels are still in place.

I do not think anyone knows, Ria, and that is the problem.

We do not have the money nor the need to set up LGBT only prisons. As a combined group they do not have the % numbers of criminals as the general public - that says a lot. Special wings in normal prisons would probably have empty cells for a lot of the time.

It is an issue that will not go away and somebody is going to have to take a long hard look at it. The present situation is obviously not ideal.

I remember April Ashly.,very glamorous , became a celebrity, I saw her on numerous occasions walking around Hay on Wye.,there was no way anyone could have thought her a man.. I had a very good friend (Dutch) who was a twin, her brother was gay, he was in line to be an Ambassador overseas, he committed suicide. Tragedy is that his sister swore she was a man in a woman's body, her life was another tragedy.

Nothing, I certainly believe that situations have been brought to a level of ridicule, if they are "males and are criminals" having committed a crime they should be confined to a male prison. Male or female a criminal is a criminal.

I agree, I wouldn't want him'her in the showers if I was In there, the 'bits' are obviously fully functioning, as per that delightful advert, so potentially a sexual threat to the women there..... I don't know what the answer is to this

The incredible sentence of 8 years on the woman who masqeuraded as a man and duped another woman amazed me. If she wanted to be a bull dyke why could she not be honest about it.

This is it, really. OK, Tara Hudson didn't like being in a male only jail. Turn it round. Say he/she had been sent to a female only jail, and raped one of the prisoners there. Which he/she was still physically capable of doing (not least after reading her ad. quoted in WM's earlier post).

The campaigners who were screaming about how outrageous it was that she had been sent to a man's jail would be exactly the same people who would have been screaming about sending him/her to a female jail!

Do the crime, do the time. If there's a problem with that, don't do the crime.
