The thing is though, most of them are not comfortable - they learn a 90 second routine but very few of them would be able to do anything in a social dancing situation. We know competitive couples who are wonderful on the competition floor but are not able to adapt to social dancing at all. Some of the SCD pros don't teach basics and try to get through with flash choreography, sometimes they get away with it and sometimes they don't.

Last night's show was interesting - I do know who went home but I will keep it to myself

I really can't see how Jay can have been given a ten when he dropped his partner. The marking on this series has been more inconsistent than ever.

I know I thought the same Rodo! They tried to cover it by saying it was meant to be like that but I watched it back and clearly it wasn't!!

More comfortable than I was, no doubt. One of my dance instructors (we had one teacher and 3 people taking their certificate), swore that I would never be able to dance after 9 months of lessons. She usually laughs about it; either before or after she asks me for a dance.....

I have a huge amount of admiration for them even taking on a task like this.

I saw the result tonight and I felt that the end result was one dancer in her comfort zone and one well out of it, basically because of the dance. It's not a good way to make the comparison as some are better than others at any particular dance. For instance if it Katie doing the Salsa she would probably have lost..

Ah well, final next Saturday. I'll be on the road. I will, however, be in my car in the UK. I'll see if I can get a high signal area and watch it on iPlayer....

I agree Osc. I know this is a show (which I enjoy) but as we both know, 'real' dancing is not 90 minutes of fancy footwork, it takes years to feel competent on the dance floor. The Argentine Tango always makes me laugh because it has become the favourite one to do, but it is nothing like the salon tango that is danced in Buenos Aires. It is all about the embrace, the musicality and getting lost in the moment. It is not flash or sexy. Of course the show dances that are performed are fabulous to watch, but if you did that on the dance floor you would be shown the door :)

Interesting you mentioned "show dances". Loz, because that salsa was definitely not a salsa .....

"Surprise" result, but we thought it was correct (for once) based purely on the night's dance-off.

We've also thought the judges' voting has been extremely biased this season. And Bruno is beginning to get on my nerves ...... :(
