It was quite a clear message. Attempts to take over the countries of the EU have, eventually, failed. I'm sure, had he thought about it, he could have added the USSR to that list too in terms of trying to control Europe. Given that roughly half of what is the EU was part of the USSR/Warsaw Pact soviet regime.
But the press hear Hitler and it's all Hitler and nothing else.
