Remember the 'something of the night' phrase re Michael Howard? Well there is something not right about Theresa May.

She was very quiet during the referendum and now that she has thrown her hat in the ring she is being very quiet about the leadership election. Nobody knows where she stands on today's main issue: Brexit. Is she for, against, or neutral?

Being for or against is obvious, and it is fine to be neutral, so long as you explain the reasons for your neutrality. She might be loved and adored in Westminster, but the public are not as enamoured. On the other hand Andrea Leadsom looks to be getting a lot of support outside the Westminster bubble.

If she and a.n. other were the last two standing she might just clinch it when it is opened up to the plebs.

It will not happen, however, because Tory MPs are out for themselves. The last thing they want is a straight talking and dynamic leader with common sense and clear path to follow.

Well, the Tory party knifed him once before, when Cameron stood for the leadership, and now they've done it again. I tell you what, there must be some real swines in that party.

WM, I've been reading the Telegraph today and it looks like Johnson was done up like a kipper. He thought he had X number of MP's backing him but there is a strong suggestion that the plan by some of them was always to switch to Gove at the last minute, leaving Johnson with no time to act and try for more support.

What lovely people.
