Good morning Friday

Postby Ally » 12 Aug 2016, 03:57

Good morning. :D

Up at 5am as Conor came home from Cantabria. :D :D :D

Lucia picked him up in Malaga, brought him back here and we've all been in the garden watching the fantastic Meteor showers! :D :D :D

They've now both gone to bed at 6am and I've put a load of washing on that Conor kindly brought back with him!

I'll have a swim when it's light then we're off to the airport at 11am to pick the Harrington's up for their pre holiday - holiday.

It works out a couple of hundred euros cheaper for them to fly over today and then get into their holiday apartment tomorrow. We always have a fantastic day and night with them; it has become a yearly tradition.

The meteors are expected to be spectacular again at 4.30 tomorrow morning - the likelihood is we'll still be up to see them!

Have a smashing day everyone. :D

Good morning! It was quite a show last night wasn't it! We're hoping for a repeat tonight too.

It's a lovely bright morning. John's cycling into work in a few minutes and I'm taking Billy out. I need to go down to town when I get back, I had a New Look gift card for my birthday and ordered some things to be delivered to the local store so I need to collect it today.

We're going to have a barbecue tonight, just the four of us (five if you count Billy, who will be very interested in what's cooking).

Have a good day all, enjoy the catch up with your friends Ally! xx

Morning! :D

Ally, I'm glad Conor is home, and lovely to have the bonus of catching the meteor 'show' :D Have a great time with your friends the Harringtons - are they the ones with the son, that you posted those 'pool' pics of one time? :) It's great that they can save that much money, in such a fun way 8-) :D

Enjoy your BBQ tonight Jo, and I hope your New Look stuff has arrived :)

Saundra, have fun watching the sport, lots of men in lycra ;) :geek:

It's a sunny day here, but rather windy! I'm going into town later this morning, with D, as she wants to buy a cover for the new smart phone we ordered for her, a Galaxy 5. Mick hasn't changed the SIM for her yet so she can't call or text with it yet, but I've put a load of apps on there for her, including Facebook and the games she plays, like Spider (solitaire), and have shown her how the camera and video recorder work 8-) I did suggest getting a cover from Amazon, but she prefers to buy things in person so we're having a mooch, and then probably a bite of lunch ;) :) Might be going to Clubbercise later, but E is working in Stroud this afternoon (she's a mobile hairdresser) and might not be finished in time, so we'll see :)

Have a good day everyone :) xxx

Morning all :D

Bright but a little windy today.

The builders arrived extra early, patio slab people have just been, oh and the gas fitter's here too. Definitely no food indoors for us today, the cooker has just gone and the sink's moved as well. Steve will set us up with a temporary sink later, but I'm definitely without the washing machine until later next week. When Peter painter arrives we'll be off out for the day. Just as well we're going to visit mother this weekend, they're planning to work Saturday and Sunday too. Not complaining, the sooner it all gets done the better, but things aren't likely to improve a lot for another 3 weeks or so.

Hope you all have a good day :D

You're getting there, though, Jen - soon be done! As you said, far better for them just to crack on while you're away. Plus it's a great 'excuse' for going out for the day and eating out, in the decent weather ;) 8-) Have a great weekend :) xx

Yes Kaz...it's Toni, Pete and their son Pierce. :D

Don's known Toni from the 70's and she's become one of my closest friends over the years. :D :D :D

Just looked and they're due to land at 11.20 - they only have hand luggage as they do what we do; take a case back.

We have 2 big bags of 'stuff' that we keep in the basement for them. Beach towels, swimming stuff, that kind of thing. Saves them lugging it over year on year.

Afternoon :)
An utterly gorgeous day here, hot and sunny but with a nice breeze :D
We've had a lovely morning. Bb, when he can, works extra on Thursdays so he can have Friday off - he almost always has to work Saturdays - and today was one of those :D
The car had to go to the garage - couple of very minor things, one was just to re-set the service reminder on it, it hasn't done nearly enough miles yet. It didn't really matter but beeped at me every time I started up.
Then the tyre pressure light was on. We'd gone to put air in, but the numbers on the fuel cap didn't match the ones at the machine, we were both a bit flummoxed :? It turns out one is psi and the other points, bars?? Anyway, why aren't they all the same markings, or both?!

So we left it there and walked from the garage into Brockenhurst, such a pretty village. A wander along the tiny High Street, in a couple of shops, bought local strawberries, potatoes and corn on the cobs (early I think for those but they're ripe), then back to the garage and the car was ready.
Drove back and stopped at http://www.setleyridge.co.uk/. They have a lovely tea rooms, so we sat outside under a huge parasol and had a coffee each, looked around the plants and then bought two huge slices of coffee and walnut cake to have later (forgot we already had strawberries but cake's always good) :D

Jen you're doing so well to keep your sanity with all the work you're having done xx
Ally have fun with your visitors, will expect to see less of you for a week or two ;) :D
Good luck meteor-spotting Jo :)
Hope you're all having a good day

That sounds lovely Di, I've actually been kicking myself for forgetting to buy strawberries from the green grocer this morning. I remembered as soon as I got home   They're one of my favourite things to eat, although I've been feasting on bilberries and blackberries whilst out with Billy. I forget that walks when the berries are ripening are much slower than walks at other times of the year. The blackberries are quite early here this year, it's usually early September that we start to see them around here. the bilberries have been lovely :)
