"Yes, we're both bonkers. But most hillwalkers are."

I would agree!

David and I were talking on Saturday and have decided the next year's yomps will include some which will be a good few hours drive away.

Rather than setting off at the crack of sparrows and then drive home really late I remembered the 'pop-up' tent that Jacob bought last year. It weighs 2.5kgs so will be easy to pack/carry.

The point I'm making is...I'm actually thinking about sleeping in a tent! Me?! Me wot loves a nice hotel!! :o

Ally, it might be okay there due to the weather you get. I spent one night in a tent during nice weather a couple of years ago, woke to a lovely sunny morning and thoroughly enjoyed it so went with all good intentions the following year....when it was cold and wet and I vowed never again! Thankfully the campsite we were at is within walking distance of home so I was back there and in my own lovely shower by 9.30am (via McDonalds for breakfast)

Suff, that sounds like quite a weekend!

Well it was fun even though it was quite hard Jo. I'd have liked it better with some of the equipment Mrs S and I used to have and some better weather. More like yesterday and today.

Sadly I won't get a chance to do that again for a while, or a long time, depending on work..

Suff, John loves camping and was only saying last night that he and Joe haven't had chance to go this Summer due to his work. First year they've missed in a long time, even if they've just gone to the campsite a couple of miles away for a few long weekends.

Hope you do manage to fit a weekend in at some point, before too long.

Hi Jo,

Sadly with the job loss here it's unlikely that I'll be back in Scotland with time for walking in the next 2 years. Hence the effort to make it. It's a loss when you love walking and camping and just can't make the time.
