Christmas holiday booked

Postby Weka » 30 Aug 2016, 20:34

We are off camping for 10 days to Ohope. http://www.whakatane.com/ohope-beach
I'm hoping to talk Mr Weka into going to Raglan for a week first at my parents batch on our way south to Ohope. I really want to be there between Christmas and new year, haven't done that in ages.

Sashas netball team have there last game this weekend and it's a dress up. The girls decided on a Christmas theme.

There, I think that's got all the Christmas out of my system for now

Next up, we need to book a holiday in Feb to the South Island as Mr Weka's sister is getting married (again). We are taking the kids out of school for a week and are going to try and do some touristy stuff while we are down there like go to the glaciers, a walk in the fiordlands... I'd love to get to Stewart island but we will see.

We will have to miss Camp Benson this year I think as the South Island is going to be quite expensive. Which is a shame as I really enjoy that weekend, but our kids really are getting too old for that group. I know of another group who goes, so I will have to make enquires this year for 2018.

Our first couple of years out here had us putting the turkey in the oven on Christmas Day (being dead British  ) but going for a mega walk on the coast in the sun, having beer and tapas, then going home to carve said turkey with all the trimmings! :lol

I could be tempted to adopt the Spanish way of life when it comes to Christmas dinner :P

We do a version of a hot dinner for Christmas, which makes no sense at all in summer but made perfect sense when I was in London.
