1 British woman missing on a walk with her husband--single file on their own in the mountains ,says he turned around to speak to her and she was'nt there
1 local lost at sea attempting to rescue teenage female tourist,she is safe he is gone

1 Frenchman missing while surfing not been found

1 local found dead at the bottom of a ravine-about a 300m fall? or maybe jump?

For a small place Madeira has one hell of a disaster profile.

And we will be visiting their on our cruise!!
Will probably go in by taxi to Funchal as it is a long walk from the ship and the shuttle bus only drops yu off at the dock entrance.
Stayed In Funchal at the Casino Palace hotel many years ago. We could walk up the hill easily then but will not be doing it on this visit.

see what i mean WM--another English woman fell and broke her foot while walking in the mountains today but REFUSED help from emer services and hobbled on with her husband!!

still had to go to hosp when they got back to hotel

i swear they leave common sense at home when they go on holiday
